Speculums and Stirrups... Oh my!

So since my ovaries decided Clomid was for chumps my nurse practitioner referred me to a Reproductive Endocrinologist. I met with him on Monday, we went through my history and seeing it all layed out in front of me is a little disconcerting. I have been off of birth control pills for 11 months, and only ovulated 3 times. Twice with the higher doses of Clomid and only once naturally- the very first month I was off of BC pills. When he asked me questions about if I had ever had regular periods- the answer was no. Not once since I started my period had it ever been predictable or reliable- so much that in order to plan my life- I had to go on BC pills.
I had thought with everything we were doing with my NP we were making progress but in reality I've only had 3 chances in the last year to even try to get pregnant- time to quit slackin' and make this happen :)
Once I started my period I went on Day 3 of my cycle to have an ultrasound. I really wanted Armando to go with me so we could start 'doing' this together. Even though 'we' are trying to get pregnant- I am the one going to appointments, taking medications etc. I am so glad that I had him come with me- it made the whole awkward situation go just a little bit smoother.
It's never comfortable to sit half naked (literally half naked, from the waist down) on paper blankets with your legs up in stirrups... but it does take a little bit of the tension out of the room when your spouse is cracking jokes. Especially when he sees the probe cover that they put on the vaginal ultrasound doohickey..."It's a CONDOM?!" He was able to see what I go through at an appointment and was there to ask the questions that I think he is sometimes hesitant to ask me- I guess it's easier to ask a stranger??
So, the girls (ovaries) look good. I have lots of follicles, hence lots of eggs- we just need to trick my body into releasing some of them. I saw my ovaries, uterus and bladder- that was an experience, the nurse said everything was normal looking and so they wrote me a prescription for Femara- another medicine to help my body produce more estrogen and in turn mature those eggies so they release like they should. I don't want to be super aggressive right now because I am young and I want to do as much as I can without extraordinary measures- so we will try some fancy timing to get pregnant and hope for the best.
